Things I explained to my Japanese students this week:

Photobucket
I took this photo on my way to work in Tatebayashi, Japan today. I love the way it really captures the Mountains and typical yards in Gunma, Japan.

-Boogers (Kids noses appear to green fountains this week, ick!)

-Wikileaks

-Sports and Medical references in Articles about Politics. See: Hemorrhage/ Heamorage and Offense

- A BBC article about Wikileaks “All this is hugely embarrassing for the Americans and hugely entertaining for us, but it isn’t going to change much.” My explanation: The “us” they mention is themselves, the British Media, and they think Americans can be stupid sometimes…like now.

-Wikileaks cables mention of “nofron” is American governmental shorthand for: This info is too sensitive to share with foreign governments.

-Dogs say Woof

-Cats say Meow

-Birds say Tweet Tweet it’s not just a Twitter thing.

-Compromise when it comes to safety is a bad thing. (She did not understand that when used like this compromise is a bad thing.)

-Aesop’s Fables, Chicken Licken’s “The sky is falling”, in relation to American Media
